A colourful vintage woven Kuba cloth. It's an impressive size
measuring approximately 435cm long x 5cm wide. The Kuba people
from the Congo produce this wonderful cloth by weaving fine palm
fibres coloured with natural vegetable dyes. Often decorated with
embroidery, patchwork, tufts & applique, they can be up to
10m long & are worn by both men & women at ceremonies
and festivals. It has some wear and tear - including a small hole
near to one end - which is typical for a cloth of this age and
size. |
